About the NNF
National Neonatology Forum (NNF) || Mangani State Neocon - 2025

The National Neonatology Forum (NNF) of India, established in 1980, is a leading professional body dedicated to improving neonatal health across the country. With over 10,000 members, including neonatologists, pediatricians, and healthcare professionals, NNF plays a pivotal role in shaping neonatal care policies and practices nationwide.

NNF's core mission encompasses advancing the science and practice of neonatology, formulating evidence-based guidelines, and promoting quality care for newborns. It has been instrumental in developing national recommendations for neonatal care, including the Essential Newborn Care (ENC) package, which emphasizes neonatal resuscitation, infection prevention, exclusive breastfeeding, and timely referral of sick newborns.

The forum actively collaborates with governmental bodies and international organizations like UNICEF and WHO to enhance neonatal care services. Notably, NNF has partnered with the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) in initiatives such as the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and the First Golden Minute (FGM) project, aiming to train healthcare workers in life-saving neonatal interventions.

NNF also focuses on capacity building through fellowships for doctors and nurses, accreditation of neonatal intensive care units (NICUs), and the publication of the "Journal of Neonatology" to disseminate research and best practices. Its state branches, including the Tamil Nadu chapter, are actively involved in organizing conferences, workshops, and community outreach programs to promote neonatal health at the grassroots level.

Through its comprehensive efforts in advocacy, training, research, and policy development, the National Neonatology Forum continues to be a cornerstone in India's endeavor to ensure the health and survival of its newborn population.
